Patient Safety and Quality Care Come First

The Kentucky Institute for Patient Safety and Quality (KIPSQ) is an organization dedicated to improving the safety, quality and cost-effectiveness of patient care throughout Kentucky. In November of 2008, KIPSQ was listed as a Patient Safety Organization (PSO) and re-certified in 2011 by the federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) as a PSO pursuant to the Patient Safety Act of 2005.

The KIPSQ PSO is a way for health care organizations to have quality and patient safety related data – including peer review deliberations – federally protected as confidential, privileged and protected from legal discovery. KIPSQ will also enable organizations to participate in shared learning to foster improvements in the processes used to deliver patient care.
